Gary Kent Biava 50, of Westville, passed this life on December 18, 2009, after being in poor health for the past year. Gary was born March 4, 1959 in Indianapolis, IN, to Virgil and Lucy Biava. He lived for a short time in Crawfordsville IN, and grew up in Westville. As a young boy, he played in the summer baseball league, and he loved to work on bicycles, motorcycles, go-karts or anything mechanical. Gary attended St. Marys grade school and played on the basketball team. Later, he went to Schlarman High School, where he played football. Gary graduated from Westville High school in 1977. One of Garys favorite hobbies was drag racing, and he often raced in Decatur, Charleston, and Terra Haute, IN. During and after high school, Gary worked in the family ready-mix concrete business for several years. Later, he started Biava Excavating, and had a successful career for twenty-seven years. Gary was a kind and gentle soul, who was always willing to help a friend. Gary was previously married to Debra Hancock in 1986 in Westville. Those who will miss Gary are his mother; Lucille Biava of Danville, his daughter Jessica (Justin) Cooper of Westville, a son Brandon Biava of Westville, his two brothers; Perry (Cecilia) Biava of West Lafayette, IN, Brett Biava of Las Vegas, his sister; Lisa (Lyle) Hayes of Salt Lake City, Utah, also two special nephews; Jason and Casey Biava, also Jennifer, Tessa, Jonathan, Makayla and Anthony. His father Virgil preceded him. A celebration of life service for Gary will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday December 23, 2009 at Sunset Urbas Chapel in Westville with Pastor Scott McCurdy officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday December 22, 2009 at the funeral home. Place of rest will be in St. Peter & Paul cemetery in Westville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to a special fund to benefit his childrens education. Condolences to his family can be made at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
