Gary E. Bowling

Crawfordsville, Ind. -- Gary E. Bowling (Doc), 57, of Crawfordsville and formerly of Covington, passed away at 1:30 a.m. EDT Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Gary was born March 13, 1952 in Danville, Illinois, the son of the late Robert S. and Evelyn M. McDonald Bowling. Survivors include: one daughter, Angela(Michael)Reese of Crawfordsville, Indiana; two grandsons, Cody Lee Hehmann and Brandon Robert Hehmann both of Kingman, Indiana; two sisters, Regina Brewer of Crawfordsville, Indiana and Teresa Hall of Silverwood, Indiana; eight brothers, David(Clara)Bowling of Fort Myers, Florida; Randal and Roger Bowling both of Kingman, Indiana; Charles(Judy)Bowling of Beloit, Wisconsin; Kevin Bowling of Rockville, Indiana; Tim(Rhonda)Bowling of Buena Vista, Arkansas; Shane(Ronda)Bowling of Covington, Indiana and Todd(Renda)Bowling of Cates, Indiana; two special friends, Brad Cruea of Crawfordsville, Indiana and Randy Meeker of Cincinnati, Ohio. Gary retired from General Motors on October 1, 2006 after 35.4 years. He was a 1970 graduate of Covington High School. Gary was a member of the U.A.W. Local 579 in Tilton, Illinois. He enjoyed many sports including Indiana University Basketball, Notre Dame Football, NASCAR and New York Yankee Baseball. His favorite NASCAR driver was Dale Earnhardt, Sr.. Gary and his six brothers were proud members of the 1985 Class C Mens Indiana Softball State Champions. He enjoyed watching a special nephew, Bryce Bowling participate in many sports. Gary enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons. He would go to many of their games and would even help sponsor some of their teams. Gary especially loved spending time with his family. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Don Perry; Burial: Kingman Fraternal Cemetery in Kingman, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the funeral home.
