Gary Arbuckle

Gary Arbuckle, 76, of Rantoul, IL passed away on May 20, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born on November 8, 1946 in Champaign, IL, a son of M.W. “Buck” and Margaret Arbuckle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Jeannette.  Also surviving is his blended family, Lisa (John) Gadbury; Sheila (Toby) Drollinger and Bill (Alessandra) Pohlman; Bob (Dawne) Pohlman; Nancy Pohlman; Sandy (Rich) Blakey.  He was a wonderful grandpa to 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert “Bob.”

Gary worked as a manager of the meat department at IGA for 45 years.  He enjoyed many hobbies including trap shooting, euchre and ham radio operator.  He enjoyed spending time over the summer fishing on Kentucky Lake where family gathered for a yearly reunion.  In his retirement he enjoyed farming with a friend but his best times were the ones spent with his family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Thursday morning at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul.  Rev. Jeanette Thorp will officiate.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana, IL.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at Lux Memorial Chapel.
