Garry L. Emery, 58, of Westville passed away at 12:45 p.m. Friday August 20, 2010 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. He was born on January 8, 1952 in Pennsylvania, the son of Gerald and Mildred (Yorkavich) Emery. He married Linda Rose Shaw on May 8, 1975 in Danville, IL. She preceded him in death on June 24, 2007. Survivors include one son, John (Tina-Marie) Stahl of West Lafayette, IN, a grandson, Joshua Lee Stahl of Ridge Farm, IL, two brothers, Mike (Karen) Emery of Moore Park, CA and Craig Emery of Lancaster, CA; two sisters Pam Suarez of Simi Valley, CA and Debbie (Jon) Sata Cruz of Simi Valley, CA; mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Gladys Sullivan, and brother-in-law, Jeff (Chris) Shaw of Westville and niece Kaitlyn Shaw of Westville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Garry was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and was a member of the Westville American Legion Post 57. He worked for Bungee for twenty years and later worked at Quaker for ten years before retiring in 2008. Garry enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Bass Association. He enjoyed woodworking, mechanics, and enjoyed tinkering. Most of all Garry loved hanging out with his family and friends. A celebration of Garrys life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 26, 2010 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, a Life Celebration Home. Connie Tapp Bandy will officiate. Burial will be at Danville National Cemetery with military rites accorded by Westville American Legion Post 57. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday August 25, 2010 at the funeral home.
