Garnett Meade

OAKWOOD- Garnett L. Meade, 85, of Oakwood, passed away at 4:10pm on Monday, April 28, 2008 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born on August 24, 1922 in rural Fairmount, IL, the daughter of Ferris Wolfe Sr. and Nevada (Sharp) Wolfe. Both deceased. On August 15, 1942, Garnett married Earl Meade Jr. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1974. She is survived by her two sons: Steven (Sandra) Meade of Fairmount, IL, Dave (Nancy) Meade of Danville, her 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Her four brothers: Ferris Jake Jr., Marion, Lester, Norman, and her infant daughter, Melody Ann Meade precede Garnett in death. Garnett was a graduate of Oakwood High School in 1940, and later was employed as a cafeteria cook for Oakwood grade school and high school, as well as farming the land with her husband. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Oakwood, and enjoyed playing card games, board games, mushroom hunting, and gardening. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Illini fan and loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
