Garnet Liggett

Mahomet - Garnet D. "Dean" Liggett, 78, passed away at 2:28pm, on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on January 4, 1939, in Edgewood, IL, the son of Roland & Edith (Buhrmann) Liggett. Dean married Betty Munds, in October of 1958, she preceded him in death. He later was united in marriage to Mary Thompson in October of 1997, she survives. He will be dearly missed by: his sons, Richard (Mary Beth) Liggett of Champaign & Dean Andrew Liggett of Mahomet; his daughters, Maggie Schoen of Mt. Vernon & Beth Eyer of Rantoul; his stepsons, Brett (Julie) Thompson of Monticello & Eric (Trudy) Thompson of Brandon, FL; his grandson, Ben (Raquel) Liggett of Urbana; his granddaughter, Anna Schoen of Mt. Vernon; and his step-granddaughters, Isabelle & Gabrielle Thompson of Brandon FL. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, siblings & grandson. Dean worked for 35 years as an over the road truck driver before retiring December 2004. Dean's wishes will be honored with cremation rights through Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St, Champaign, IL. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 28,2017 at Pairieview Cemetery, Champaign.
