Oakwood - Garett Ray McDonald, 19, of Oakwood passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at his home. He was born on March 13, 1995 in Danville, the son of Les and Tina (Holley) McDonald. They survive. In addition to his parents, Garett is survived by a brother, Steven McDonald of Oakwood; grandparents, Carl McDonald, Robert and Mary Holley, and Marla and Dennis Senft; as well as an aunt, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Ethel McDonald. Garett was an Oakwood High School graduate and was currently attending DACC for Computer Sciences. He had planned on attending Indiana State to further his education. He worked for the last two and a half years as a cook at Gross Burgers and also provided lawn mowing services at Leisure Time and around the Oakwood area. He had several interests including playing guitar, computers, gaming, kneeboarding, hiking, and building models. He also liked to go to the movies and be with his friends and loved to spend time with his family and dog, Hunter. Garett was a hard worker and was adventurous, generous and caring. He will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends. A service to celebrate the life of Garett McDonald will be held at 6 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Kenny Bostwick will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM prior to the service on Saturday. Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date at Allhands Cemetery.
