Covington, Ind. - Gail L. (Randolph) Koveski, age 70, passed away at 10:57 a.m. EDT Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, Indiana, following a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis and its effects. Born in Lafayette, Indiana on July 26, 1946 to the late Warren S. and Mildred Harvey Randolph, Gail grew up on Silver Island (rural Kingman, IN) attended Cates Grade School, Kingman High School and was a 1964 graduate of Covington High School and 1967 graduate of the Lakeview School of Nursing in Danville, IL. She later returned to school and completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Francis College. Gail worked as an industrial nurse in Chicago, Illinois, at Union Specialty - where she met her husband James Koveski. They were married January 20, 1971 and he preceded her in death in 2006. She later worked for Eastman Kodak Company and then later as a medical claims reviewer. She and Jim resided in Hillside, Berkeley, and Burr Ridge, Illinois where Gail was a Republican precinct captain for a number of years then they moved to Lemont, IL. Gail was particularly proud of her volunteer work in the local office for Christine Radogno (R) currently serving as Illinois Senate Minority Leader, the first female political party leader in the Illinois Legislature. Gail was involved in the I&M heritage Canal representing Burr Ridge as a board member and instrumental in opening the Visitors' Center in Bedford Park volunteering there and participating in the annual Portage Day reenactments. She was a member of the Illinois Professional Nurses Association, Lakeview Nursing School Alumni Association, and enjoyed meeting monthly with a Garden/Breakfast Club group of Burr Ridge, and was a card carrying member of the Republican party. Gail is survived by her good friend and help-mate, Joseph Barnard; her two step-children, Linda (Gary) Fitzgerald and Gene Koveski; her three brothers Tad H. (Bonnie) Randolph of Grayling, MI, Steven R. (Marcia) Randolph, Warsaw, IN: and Rev. W. Scott (Debbie) Randolph, Georgetown, IL; and by five nieces, four nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, and a great nephew David Josiah Randolph. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. EDT at the DeVerter Funeral Home, 215 North Division Street, Cayuga, Indiana 47928. Her brothers Steven and Rev. W. Scott Randolph will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Gail and her family request any memorial donations be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (online at http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Donate); or the 'New Cabin Fund" mailed to Camp Assurance, PO Box 18, Georgetown, IL. 61846; or to a favorite charity of one's choice dedicated to doing good with a lasting effect in the world
