Freida N. Hopper

Freida Nadine Hopper, 75, of Rantoul, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on April 20, 1950, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Willis and Carol Riddle. In 1992, Freida married John A. Hopper, and they spent many wonderful years together until his passing in 2019.

Freida is survived by her children, Nakia (Dayvon) McCarrell and Paul Stiff; grandchildren, Lynneah McCarrell, Jayden McCarrell, Malia McCarrell, La’Sani Stiff, Jayda Stiff, and Laniya Lewis; and siblings, Carol Lee Anthony, Barbara (Lloyd) Noles, and Anita (Velmar) Williams.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Carol, husband, John, and siblings, Emilee Ivy, Willis (Marian Francis Fleming) Riddle, Diana Riddle, Sharron Horton, and Marshal Riddle.

Freida found joy in various hobbies that showcased her creativity and nurturing nature, including crocheting, sewing, and cooking. In her spare time, she also loved playing cards with her family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Lux Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave. Rantoul, IL 61866.
