Their first daughter was born in Texas and they moved around several bases there until the shipped out to Homstead , FL until he mustered out after VE day. They returned to Danville to live and raise their family. She was active in her church and Home Bureau, enjoyed entertaining friends and family, reading, decorating, and cooking. Starting in the early 60s she began to work in labor and delivery at St Elizabeth's Hospital as a scrub nurse, then she went to work as an LPN for Dr Stanley Levine and for the doctors that followed in that practice until she retired.
