Fredrick William Legg, 81, of Catlin, died at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, July 2nd, 2011, at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville. Fred was born on August 23rd, 1929 in Danville, to Fred and Mildred Legg. He graduated from Danville High School in 1947 and later received his Associate Degree from DACC. He was married on May 19th, 1950 to Carol Royalty. Fred was a veteran of the Korean War and worked 33 years in engineering at the Danville V.A. Surviving are his wife, Carol, and four children, Kim (Stan) Puzey of Fairmount, Kayann (Norma) Legg Fairfield, Ohio, Kris (Rob) McMasters of Brookfield, WI and Joe (Kim) Legg of Catlin. Grandchildren include Chad (Melissa) Supp, Jake (fianc(c) Kim) Supp, Joanna (Nick) West and Lydia Legg. Great-grandchildren include Madeline and Sidney Supp and Sophie West. He was preceded in death by parents-Fred and Mildred Legg, brother-Jim Legg and in-laws- Omar and Ruth Royalty. He was president of the Landmark Credit Union for ten years and a founding member of the Catlin library. Fred was active in community theater in the Danville area, receiving four Katy Awards. He was an avid Chicago Bears, Bulls and huge White Sox fan, as well as University of Illinois sports. He enjoyed watching old movies, creative writing, reading, golf, tennis, bridge, fishing and spending time with friends and family. In accordance with his wishes, his ashes will be released over his favorite fishing pond. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5th, 2011 with a Celebration of his Life at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home. Full military rites will be conducted by the Korean War Veterans. In lieu of flowers memorials should be sent to the Vermilion County War Museum and the Red Mask Theater.
