Frederick 'Chuck' Hoffman

Frederick "Chuck" Hoffman, 84, of Rossville passed away January 15, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born January 11, 1937 in Midlothian, Illinois a son of Wilma and Frederick Hoffman. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Teresa Cornell, and sister, Dolores Hirsch.

Chuck married Charlotte "LaVawn" Pickett in October of 1969 at Bethel Baptist Church in Georgetown. They shared a lifetime together and raised five children. Their surviving children include Richard (Belinda) Roberts of Rankin, Pamela (Jack) Ray of Rossville, Brian (Kim) Hoffman of Danville, and Jeanette Hoffman of Rossville. Also surviving are grandchildren Brandy (Deron) Owens, Jessica Roberts, Matthew Ray, Christopher (Ashley) Roberts, Ashley Cornell, Kayla Roberts, Jaydyn Nowell, Bailey Roberts, Jeron Beckley, and Bryson Hoffman; 3 step grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his three beloved dogs Lucie, Ginger, and Piper.

Chuck proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends at the VFW in Hoopeston where he was a member for a number of years. He was also a member of the American Legion in Rossville. He attended the Methodist Church in Rossville and looked forward to his visits with his minister, Chris Quick. His family kindly remembers traveling to Minnesota each year for their annual trip and knew they could usually find him tinkering in his garage. He loved spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing or gardening.

Chuck worked at General Motors as a lab tech for 33 years before his retirement in 1990.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 10:00 am until 12 noon at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, Illinois. A private family service will take place.
