Freda Louise Hurley

Covington, Ind. - Freda Louise Hurley, 89, of Covington, passed away at 2:09 p.m. CDT Monday, April 2, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Illinois. She was born July 26, 1922 in Little York, Indiana, the daughter of the late William M. and Katherine F. Kirby Cruea. She married Harold R. Hurley on August 23, 1941 in Covington, Indiana. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1999. Survivors include one granddaughter, Shelly Childers of Georgia; one grandson and family, Todd(Iulia)Childers of Alabama and one great granddaughter, Hannah Childers of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cherry R. Childers; four sisters and three half brothers. Louise retired in 1987 after 23 years from the Fountain County Medicaid Office. She was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church. Louise was a 1940 graduate of Covington High School. She was previously very active with the Covington Senior Citizen Center, Covington V.F.W. and was instrumental in setting up the Covington SHARE food program. At her own request, there will be no services. Cremation will be accorded with a private family service to be held at a later date. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
