Danville- Fred W. Greazer, 87, of Danville passed away at 12:55 PM on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born on August 24, 1923 in Danville to Fred and Elizabeth McKearns Greazer. He married Thelma W. Meeker on October 31, 1942. She preceded him in death in December of 1987. He then married Myra Houghton Garner on September 9, 1989. She survives. Also surviving is one son Ron (Jane) Greazer of Danville; two step-children John (Linda) Garner of Lancaster, PA and Gail (Barb) Garner of Danville; two grandchildren David (Luanne) Greazer and Cara (Brad) Allen; six step-grandchildren Barbara (Darren) York, Mary (Ed) Hutchison, Dan (Julie) Garner, Andrew (Kristy) Garner, Blake Brockwell, and Jessica (Mike) Henn; five great-grandchildren Holly, Ashley, and Mandy Greazer and Chelsea and Jordan Allen; and six step great-grandchildren Jude, Katie, and Micah Garner, Mary Emma, Moise, and Anna Joy York. He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, and two sisters Hazel Kocsvar and Mary Brown. Fred served his country in the Army during WWII, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge. During his enlistment he earned the Victory Medal, American Theater, European- African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, W/4 Bronze Battle Stars, 2 Overseas Service Bars, the Good Conduct Medal, GO#1, 26th Infantry Division, 101st Field Artillery Battery B, and the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in France in November of 1944. He had worked at Allith-Proudy in Danville before working for the Danville Township Highway Department where he retired as Road Commissioner after 31 years of service. Fred attended Central Park Church of Christ and was a member at the American Legion Post #210. He enjoyed the Cleveland Indians, fishing, especially at the Kentucky Dam, traveling, and gardening. A service to celebrate the life of Fred Greazer will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Pastors Raymie Gordon and Scott McCurdy will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday, October 25 as well as from 1-2 PM prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Central Park Church of Christ.
