Fred Nolan Bates

Fred Nolan Bates (1924 - 2013) left this earth at 8:25 pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, to join his son, John (1959 - 2004) and daughter, Sue Daniels (1952 - 2007). He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Edith, and daughter, Linda Hagen, both of Danville. His memory will also live on in his grandchildren: Tracy (Joe) Walton of Catlin, Illinois; Dawn Thoma of Wilmington, North Carolina; Gayle (Steve) Beebe of New Palestine, Indiana; and, Nicole (Patrick) Antrobus of Lebanon, Indiana. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Hunter Walton of Arlington, Virginia; Tanner Walton of Catlin; and, Joel and Mitchell Beebe of New Palestine, Indiana. He was also very fond of spoiling his grand-dog, Pixie. Fred served in the US Army 1944 - 1946, was a farmer and pilot; and later, worked in construction, welding, and maintenance work. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, woodworking, gardening, and feeding his birds and squirrels. He will be dearly missed by family and a host of friends. Fred will be cremated per his request. Military Rites will be accorded at 11:00 am on Saturday October 12, 2013 in Sunset Memorial Park. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center assisted the family with arrangements.
