Fred L. Bennett

Tilton- Fred L. Bennett, 84, of Tilton passed away at 8:30 AM on Thursday March 11, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 22, 1926 in Danville, the son of Jewel and Effie Swank Bennett. He married Betty Barrett on December 13, 1952 in Danville. Surviving are one son Tom (Cindy) Bennett of Kennesaw, GA; two brothers Harry Bennett of Westville and Don (Dorothy) Bennett of Tilton; one sister Hazel Dunsmore of Westville; and two grandchildren Tommy Bennett of Statesboro, GA and Kyle Bennett of Kennesaw, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Betty in October of 2008. Fred worked for Hahne Co. in Danville as well as Ryder Truck Lines. He was a little league coach for Central Foundry and was a scout leader for Troop 5 Boy Scouts in Tilton. He had been a member of the Frontier Twirlers for many years and loved square and round dancing. He belonged to the Central Park Church of Christ and enjoyed woodworking. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Fred L. Bennett will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 15 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Pastor Raymie Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 14 from 2-6 PM also at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
