Fred M. Goodpaster, 78, of Danville, passed away at 8:33pm, on November 9, 2008 at Provena USMC in Danville. He was born on September 30, 1930, in Owensville, KY, the son of Clay and Emma (Welch) Goodpaster. Both deceased. On March 7, 1952, Fred married Joyce Massey in Danville. They were married for 53 years before her passing in March of 2005. Fred is survived by his two children, Jeff Goodpaster of LeRoy, IL, Jenna (Chris) Brown of Danville, his four grandchildren, Tyler (Tasha) Goodpaster, Billy Jacobs, Amanda Brown, Allen Brown, and his two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Caleb Goodpaster. Fred is also survived by his brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Massey, his brother Herbert (Lu) Goodpaster of Marion, IN, his sister, Opal Woodyard of Danville, several nieces and nephews and the Congregation at the CrossRoads Christian Church in Danville. Fred worshipped at CrossRoads Christian Church (formerly Old Union) his entire adult life. He was a gently, generous, kind-hearted, and hard working man that worked as a coal miner and later, retiring from Quaker Oates Factory in Danville after 20 years of service. He enjoyed eating out, especially at Cahills Pancake House, and at Henks Restaurant Hillery, IL. Fred was passionate about keeping his 5 acres mowed and picture perfect, and always loved a good hot cup of coffee.
