Fred C. Hall, 97, formerly of Westville passed away at Brickyard Sycamore Village Care Center in Kokomo, Indiana. He was born on May 14, 1927 in Danville, Illinois to the late Ava and Fred G. Hall. Fred enlisted in the United States Navy in July of 1945 during World War II. He proudly served until the war concluded and was given an honorable discharge for his service. He reenlisted soon after for another 7 years in the Navy Reserve.

Fred married Alice Cox on September 23, 1951 in Danville. The two shared many wonderful times together until her passing in 2010. They particularly enjoyed bowling together and UAW #579 retiree functions. Fred worked at the GM Central Foundry for 39 years before his eventual retirement. He was also a 60-year member of the American Legion Post 51 in Westville. He volunteered much of his time to help at the Depot in Westville and spent many days helping with the caboose. He also started listening to the Cubs play over the radio on Guam and became a life long Cubs fan. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes with his friends and also did scuba diving in the area, even going under the ice on Lake Vermilion. He enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball in the Industrial League.

He is survived by son Bob (Donna) Hall of Kokomo, granddaughters Whitney (Mike) Steltenkamp, also of Kokomo & Andrea (Brad) Willits of Greentown, great-granddaughter Cora Willits, also of Kokomo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife, Fred is preceded in death by his great-grandson Matthew Willits, a brother Dale (Sally) Hall, and two sisters Winifred (Arnold) Prestwood, and Waneta (Joseph) Hayden.

A graveside will take place at 2 pm CST on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, Illinois. Father Timothy Sauppé will be officiating. He will be laid to rest next to Alice and his parents following services. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Legion Post 51 in Westville.
