GEORGETOWN- Franklin Niziolkiewicz, 87 of Georgetown, passed away at 3:47am, on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Provena USMC in Danville. Mr. Niziolkiewicz was born in Georgetown on November 29, 1918, the son of Martin and Agnes (Fizgal) Niziolkiewicz. On April 12, 1947, Frank married Ms. Ruby Mariage in Georgetown. She survives. He later married Ms. Vera Bender-Tyler on May 27, 1972 in Westville. She preceded him in death in 1992. Surviving members of Franks family include his sons; Dennis (Suzanne) Niziolkiewicz of Danville and his daughter; Dianne (Robert) Rice, also of Danville, and his step-son, Gary Tyler. Frank will also be miss by his sister; Josephine Derbick of Chicago, Il; his five grandchildren; Chris (Shelly) Rice of Catlin, Kimberly (Andrew) Norton of Kentucky, Carla (Chris) Hilligoss of Westville, RaeAnn Klink of Springfield, Il, and Joshua Niziolkiewicz of Champaign and his step-grandson, Bill Tyler. He is preceded in death by his brother John, and his sisters; Agnes, Hattie, Helen, Mary, Francis, and an infant sister. Frank was a 1937 Georgetown High School graduate. He served in the United States Army from 1941-1946, receiving numerous awards include; the Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and other various citations. Frank also seen combat during WWII at various locations including; Northern Africa, Northern France, Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, as well as other campaigns. Frank was a member of the Georgetown American Legion Dornblasers Post 203 and the UAW 597 in Tilton. Frank worked at the General Motors Tilton Foundry, retiring in 1975. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, was an avid nature lover and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and adored his cat Cool. A celebration of the life of Frank Niziolkiewicz is scheduled for 10:00am on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home located at 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. Officiating the service will be Father David Erickson. Final resting place will be at the Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home between 4-8pm on Tuesday, April 4, 2006.
