Franklin J. "Jake" Corey

Veedersburg, Ind. -- Franklin J. "Jake" Corey, 86, of Veedersburg and formerly of Kingman, Indiana, passed away at 2:30 p.m. EDT Thursday, August 14, 2008 at The Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana. He was born September 30, 1921, in Fountain County, Indiana, the son of the late Dan and Zola Lincoln Corey. He married Mabel Zackmire on April 17, 1945 in Sterling, Indiana. She preceded him in death on May 12, 1997. Survivors include: two brothers, Guy Junior(Zedy)Corey of Kingman, Indiana and Wayne Corey of Covington, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Jake was a self employed trucker. He was a member of the Community Bible Baptist Church in Veedersburg, Indiana. Jake enjoyed playing the wash board. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Sunday, August 17, 2008 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. James Furr; Burial: Zackmire Cemetery in rural Kingman, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. EDT Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the funeral home.
