Cayuga, Ind. -- Frank Switzer, Jr., 84, of Cayuga, Indiana, passed away at 5:15 a.m. EST Friday, January 18, 2008 at his residence in Cayuga, Indiana. He was born September 26, 1923 in Eugene, Indiana, he was the son of the late Frank and Odilla McLain Switzer. He first married Helen Branam on August 24, 1946 in Perrysville, Indiana. She preceded him in death on August 5, 1988. He later married Minnie Ottinger on February 24, 1990 in Lodi, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include: three daughters, Diane L.(Jim Kilby)Barr of Williamsport, Indiana; Linda L. Switzer of Danville, Indiana; Bonnie E.(Bill)Randolph of Cayuga, Indiana; one son, Russell E.(Barbara)Switzer of Cayuga, Indiana; two step children; Bill Whittington of Hillsboro, Indiana and Becky(Brent)Shaw of Cayuga, Indiana; three grandchildren, Brent Barr, Wade Smith and Hope Ann Barr; four step grandchildren, Erica Sams, Karla Smith, Brandi Hughes and Mike Cedar; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Don(Jean)Switzer of Cayuga, Indiana. Frank was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Lynn Switzer; two granddaughters, Kayla Hughes and Karissa Shirar. Frank retired from the maintenance department at TeePak after 31 years. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving with the United States Army. His many memberships include: Lifetime member of the Cayuga American Legion Rainbow Post #263; 40/8 in Crawfordsville, Indiana; V.F.W. in Covington, Indiana; Cayuga Senior Citizens Club and the U.F.C.W. Local #686 at TeePak. Frank served six terms as Post Commander for the Cayuga American Legion and was a former Boy Scout Leader. He was a District Chairman and Volunteer at the V.A. Illiana Health Care. In 2007 Frank was the recipient of the W.W. II Medallion. He was currently serving as Vice Commander in the 6th District in the American Legion. Frank enjoyed spending time at the Cayuga American Legion, camping, traveling, gardening and playing cards. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Monday, January 21, 2008 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. William Lehman; Burial: Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana with graveside military rites by the Cayuga American Legion Rainbow Post #263; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the funeral home.
