Frank J. Sonny' Carroll, 79, of Danville, passed away at 3:50am, Friday, January 25, 2013, at VA Illiana Health Care Systems, Danville. He was born on September 26, 1933, in Danville, IL, the son of Frank and Oria {Guth} Carroll, both deceased. He was married to Sally Ann Juris on July 3, 1965, in Danville, IL, until her passing on January 17, 2008. He is survived by: his sons, Joseph Carroll of Danville & John Carroll of Fountain Hills, AZ; his daughters, Cheryl (Paul) Rome of Danville, Donna (Brad) Carlton of Georgetown, & Janet (Michael) Greene of Westville; his grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Rome of Danville, Andrew (Leslie) Rome of Covington, IN, Britanee & Kathy Jo Carroll of Westville, & Anna Carroll of Danville, Zane Greene of Westville, Jarret, Joshua, & Kyle Carlton, all of Georgetown; his great grandchildren, Liam, Amelia Sally, Logan, & Jayson; his brothers-in-law, Bill Fredericks of Danville, Gregory (Patricia) Juris of Danville, & Ronald (Donna) Juris of Bloomington, IL; and his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, & great nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John, and three sisters, Betty Fredericks, Mary Jane Cartwright, & Jeannie Hardy. Sonny was a proud Veteran of the US Army. He had worked as a carpenter for Vacketta & Sons Construction Co. and was a member of the Local 269 for 61 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Westville American Legion Post #51. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, horse races, & trips to casinos. He also enjoyed bowling and loved going to watch his grandchildren's events. Sonny was an avid Chicago Cubs & Bears fan. He began the annual family vacation 35 years ago where his family enjoyed being together at Indiana Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, Monday, January 28, 2013, at St. Mary's Church, 231 N. State St, Westville, with Fr. Timothy Sauppe officiating. Visitation will be 2pm-6pm, Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St, Westville. He will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in his name to St. Mary's Church or Palliative Care at VA Illiana Health Care Systems.
