Frank R. Edwards, 82, of Danville, passed away at 1:48pm, Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 18, 1930, in Danville, IL, the son of Perry and Mary {Jordon} Edwards, both deceased. He was first married to Shirley Tinder in 1954 in Kentucky. Later he was married to Robbie Lawrence on January 10, 1974, in Champaign, IL. She will miss him dearly. He is also survived by: his children, Michael (Sandy) Edwards of Grape Creek, Danny (Tawana) Edwards of Danville, Robert (Carolyn) Edwards of Westville, Troy (Melissa) Edwards of Danville, Randy (Nicole) Edwards of Westville, Debra (Butch) Atwood of Missouri, & Ramona (Steve) Ford of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Brandon (Britany) Edwards of Westville, Joshua Edwards of Danville, Felisha (John) Liles of Danville, Ashley (Mark) Edwards of Danville, Miranda Edwards of California, Jason (Whitney) Matthews of Danville, Nicole (Jon) Ford of Newman, IL, Alisha (AJ) Edwards of Perrysville, IN, Christopher (Jess) Edwards of Danville, Sierra Edwards of Danville, Katie Edwards of Westville, & Kyle Edwards of Westville; his seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; and his sister, Mary Louise Acord of Westville. He was preceded in death by: his brother, Larry; and his great granddaughter, Brooklyn Edwards. Frank had worked for C.&E.I. and retired from CSX in 1992. He was a proud Veteran having served with the US Army and US Navy. He was a member of the former VFW Post #3510-Thomas E. McMahon. He was also a member of the Vermilion Fishing Club. He enjoyed going fishing, hunting, gardening, & mushroom hunting. He loved being outdoors. Most of all, he loved being with his family & grandkids. A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #51. Visitation will be 4-8pm, Friday, May 4, 2012, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations to go to C.A.R.A. or American Cancer Society in his name.
