Frank Nelson Christian, 86, of Georgetown, formerly of Danville, passed away at 4:03am, Tuesday November 25, 2025, at Hawthorne Inn, Danville, IL. He was born on April 5, 1939 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Danville, the son of William and Margaret (Nelson) Christian, both deceased. He was united in marriage to his true love, Judith Ann Myers, on August 18, 1962, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Danville. They enjoyed 63 years together. She will miss him dearly.
Frank will also be dearly missed by his children: Elizabeth “Beth” (Doug) Pirie of Georgetown, Frank “Butch” (Beth) Christian of Tilton, Julie (Reuben) Howard of Catlin, and Jeremiah (Cathy) Christian of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Erika (Phil) Sudlow, Tyler (Stephanie) Pirie, Hannah Christian, Abigail (Christopher) Mollet, Emily Christian, and Clayton (Jacie) Christian; his great grandchildren, Hayden, Hadley, Aria, Eleanor, Leeland, and one on the way, Christian; his sisters-in-law, Christine Christian and Becky Chaudoin; his special nephew, Bill (Dana) Christian, as well as many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, William Christian and David Christian Sr., his sister, Margaret “Sissy” Hein; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Myers.
Frank graduated from Schlarman High School with the Class of 1958. He worked as a Police Officer for City of Danville Police Department from 1970 until his retirement as Lieutenant in 1992. While serving the community, he could be found at Friendly Town. He also attended and graduated with an Associates Degree from Danville Junior College. After retirement, he worked security at Old National Bank, as a bailiff at Vermilion County Courthouse, and as a Park Ranger at Kennekuk County Park. Frank was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight and was a member of the Holy Family Church, Danville.
Frank had a passion for fishing for Flatheads and hunting deer, and was an overall avid outdoorsman. He passed his knowledge and love of the outdoors to three generations of Christian’s. He was known to love to entertain his grandchildren and friends with his tall tales and his joy of singing. He was known to enjoy gardening and being outside to enjoy the sunshine. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank-You to Hawthorne Inn and their wonderful staff for the care and love they showed Frank and his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00PM, Friday, November 28, 2025, at Holy Family Church, 444 E Main St, Danville IL with Monsignor Kruse officiating. Visitation will be held for two hours prior at the Church beginning at 11:00am to 1:00pm. He will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery, Danville, IL. Sunset Funeral Home, Georgetown, was entrusted with his arrangements. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Hawthorne Inn Activity Department.
