Frank A. Fonte, 87, of Danville passed away at 5:25 a.m. Monday January 10, 2005 at the Hawthorne Inn. He was born to Michele and Immaculata (Scuppo) Fonte on August 22, 1917 in Manhattan, NY. Frank married Filomena Colombo May 30, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Michael (Berta) Fonte of Silver Springs, MD; Joe (Kay) Fonte of Carmel, IN; five daughters, Mary Ann (Gale) Galloway of Danville, Chris (Harvey) Taylor of Dunwoody, GA; Agnes (Kent) Burgess of Comfort, TX; Joan (Dannie) Smith of Union, KY; and Frances (Rick) Strebing of Bloomington, IL; one brother, Oswald Fonte, of Brooklyn, NY and one sister, Filomena Anson of Wantaugh, NY; 12 Grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Frank was a World War II veteran, serving with United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Private First Class. He worked for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation for 15 years as plant superintendent, Stanray Boat Company as plant manager, and owned and operated with his wife the Hour Glass Restaurant. Frank was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #754 Fourth Degree, American Legion Post #210, Elks Lodge #332, and Golden K. Kiwanis.
