Paul Franklin “Frank” Olinger, Sr., 82, of Danville, accepted the Lord and passed away at 2:25 AM on September 23, 2024 at his home in Danville, IL.
Frank was born on November 8, 1941 the son of Charles B. and Letha Evelyn (McQueen) Olinger in Danville, IL. He married Judy Kirkpatrick on April 3, 1971 in Shawneetown, IL and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Olinger of Danville, IL, his sons, Paul Franklin Olinger, Jr., and Gary (Ellen) Williams of Yorkville, IL, his daughter, Judith Gayle (Jamie) Swansen of Laguna Niguel, CA, four grandchildren, Chelsie (Blair) Lightcap of Dallas, TX, Andrea Williams of St Louis, MO, Charles Williams of Chicago, IL and Matthew John Olinger of Aurora, IL as well as one great grandson, Grant Franklin Lightcap of Dallas, TX.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Virginia Priddy, Jack Olinger and Mike Olinger, and one grandson, Jacob Swansen.
Frank was an outdoorsman and loved to fish, especially for bass and he had caught several trophy bass over the years. He enjoyed collegiate sports and cheered on the Illini Football and Basketball teams. He tinkered on small engines in his work shed as a hobby, and also enjoyed spending his free time with his dog “Sandie” and doting over his grandchildren.
Frank served honorably in the US Army and retired from Heatcraft Refrigeration Products in Danville.
A private Celebration of Life Graveside Service was be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Stearns Cemetery. Pastor Todd Creason will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard at the cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Frank’s memory to the VFW in Danville.
Sunset’s Oakwood Chapel, 105 E. South Main Street Oakwood, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
