Francis 'Frank' L. Mowers

Francis Frank L. Mowers, 74, of Alvin, passed this life at 9:24 pm on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at his residence. He was born on December 19, 1935, in Byron, IL, the son of Jay and Elizabeth (Engekuss) Mowers. On March 7, 1959, Frank married Luticia Johnson in Magnolia, IL. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, their three children, Donald (Wendy) Mowers of Alvin, DeAnna (Ward) Hall of Alvin, and Joyce (Dave) Miles of Danville. His seven grandchildren, Naomi (Norman) Skinner, Jesse (Rosette) Hall, Darci (Jason) Johnson, Jacob (Rachel) Hall, Alice Hall, Meghan Mowers, and Mary-Kate Hall. His ten great-grandchildren, Austyn Skinner, Hannah Hall, Vashti Skinner, Jacob Hall, Ethan Hall, Elijah Skinner, Emily Barube, Jeremiah Skinner, Jessette Hall, and Rainah Skinner all survive him. Other survivors include his two sisters, Carolyn Lucas, Doris Carlson, and his son-in-law, Tim Quartier. His parents and grandparents preceded Frank in death. Frank graduated from Wenona High School and later served in the United States Air Force from 1955 until his Honorable discharge in 1958. After the service, Frank worked as a salesman for the FS Agricultural Company, and also owner/operator of his trucking company. He was a member of the Bismarck Lions Club and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting, and fishing. A Celebration of Franks life will began at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Danville National Cemetery located at 1900 East Main Street in Danville with military honors being held at the graveside. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:30-1:30pm on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Franks name to the National Alzheimers Association, Carle Hospice, and/or Shriners Childrens Hospital.
