Francis E. Wheeler, 76, of Georgetown went to be with his Lord at 10:44 a.m. Sunday August 30, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on August 4, 1933 in Catlin, IL the son of Edwin and Opal (Compton) Wheeler. He served two years in the U.S. Army in Germany. He graduated from Ridge Farm High School He was married to Linda C. (Powell) Wheeler on August 26, 1962 in Georgetown, IL. She survives. Other survivors include two brothers, Edwin Jr. (Inez) Wheeler of Attica, IN and Donald (Dorothy) Wheeler of Georgetown, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. A very special friend was Dale Campbell of Catlin. Francis was employed at the V.A. for thirty-three years and was a school bus driver at Westville for 18 years before retiring. Francis was a member of the American Legion and the Southside Church of the Nazarene in Tilton. He was a fan of Illinois football and basketball, and of the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved going to church and being with his church family. He was very faithful to the Lord. He enjoyed golfing, traveling (mission trips), and working at church. A celebration of Franciss life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 3, 2009 at Southside Church of the Nazarene in Tilton. Pastor Kent Pitcher and Pastor Randy Holden will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday September 2, 2009 at Southside Church of the Nazarene. Memorials may be made in his name to the Southside Church of the Nazarene in Tilton.
