Frances Nadine Mother Turtle Kramm Schramm, 82, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. Francis Nadine Kramm was born on July 15, 1923 in Little River, Kansas, the daughter of Leslie and Mary (Morgan) Kramm. She married Albert W. Schramm on April 27, 1945 in San Diego, California. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1981. She is survived by 1 son- Albert John A.J. Schramm and his fianc(c) Sandy Speekman of Danville; 1 daughter- Ila Gayle Hillard of Danville; 1 chosen daughter- Wanda Rue of Paris, Illinois; 4 grandchildren- Kim (Tony) Graham of Brownsburg, Indiana, Nicole Hillard of Westville, Rhonda (Brian) Morlan of Hoopeston, and Heather (Tom) Gardiner of Westville; 9 great-grandchildren- Gracey, Regan, Robbie, Maleah, Cassie Kay, Morgan, Rachel, Joe, and John; 1 sister- Pat (Don) Halbower of Great Bend, Kansas; and 1 brother- Morgan Kramm of Cedarcrest, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a very special friend- Ralph Sargent. Nadine graduated from high school in Emporia, Kansas in 1941. She was a homemaker and a mother as her children grew. Nadine was the founder of the Turtle Races in Danville and she was a member of the Turtle Club. She ran the turtle races for 41 years, which was a very important part of her life. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Nadine was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Moose Lodge #1001. Grandma GG will be greatly missed and always loved. She was a lively person who enjoyed life to the Fullest! She didnt want to miss a minute of it. She had many close friends throughout her life and continued to make friends all the way to the end. She had a big loving heart and a quick wit. She was always ready to laugh. She lives behind a very special group of friends who were as close to her heart as her family; Bunny Shafer, Kathy & Fred Cunningham, Janet Ray, Colleen Stines, Herb Wiese, Gerry Lawrence, Jean Alexis, her K of C family and the wonderful staff at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. She left this earth for a better place, but part of her will live on here through all of the people she has touched. We will miss her greatly but know that we will be together again someday. A celebration of the life of Francis Nadine Mother Turtle Kramm Schramm will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Pastor Pamela Starr officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Nadines name to the Turtle Club.
