Frances Morgan

Frances "Cookie" Morgan, 94, of Danville, passed away at 9:15 am Monday June 27, 2016. Frances was born in Springfield, IL, on December 22, 1921. She was the daughter of Frank Koch and Edna (Burchardt) Koch and the sister of Frank "Bud" Koch, all of whom have preceded her in death. Later Frances married Herschel Morgan, who also preceded her in death. Frances is survived by her daughter, Lynda Morgan and son, Ed Morgan. Frances was a very loving and devoted mother; she spent most of her days raising her two children whom she loved dearly. Frances was a fine cook and was well known amongst her children's friends for her cookies (sugar and chocolate chip, particularly). Her oatmeal cakes and strawberry Jell-O salad were the rave at church potlucks. In her spare time Frances enjoyed spending time with her animals, as well as socializing with her many friends and neighbors. Frances was a member of the WOMs (Women of McKinley), an informal group of educational personnel who worked with special education children. The group of women shared many meals and helped many children. Frances worked for Danville School District 118 for 20 years. She was also a member of the United Church of Christ (both Danville and Trinity) for many years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday June 30, 2016, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be pastor David Roberts-Mosser. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL, on Friday July 1, 2016. Visitation will be held from 5PM to 8PM Wednesday June 29, 2016, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Frances' name to the Alzheimer Association.
