Frances L. Garlinghouse

Carrollton, Missouri -- Ecclesiastes 3:1-20: "To everything there is a season....a time to die" ....Frances L. Garlinghouse, 87, formerly of Cayuga, Kingman, Terre Haute, Peru and Mexico Indiana and a resident of Carrollton, Missouri for the past 3 years, passed away at 3:30 p.m. CST Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Carroll House Health Care Center in Carrollton, Missouri. ...."A time to be born"....She was born July 31, 1920 in Cayuga, Indiana the daughter of the late William E. and Elsie Corbett DeVerter...."A time to love".... She married Herbert A. Garlinghouse on January 25, 1940 in Rockville, Indiana...."A time to mourn".... He preceded her in death on August 7, 1979. ...."A time to dance....a time of peace.... I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever".... Mother and Daddy have reunited within hours of their 68th wedding anniversary to dance in peace, forever together. We will miss you! Survivors include: three daughters, Joan Dalton of Illinois; Jean Clawson of Noblesville, Indiana and Jeanette (Charles) McGrigg of Weston, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Janet) DeVerter of Camdenton, Missouri and a sister-in-law, Mona Carpita of Noblesville, Indiana. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilmont and Walton DeVerter. Frances was a 1938 graduate of Cayuga High school. She was a life member of the Perrysville Chapter OES # 302. Frances worked 13 years for Dukes Hospital and was a supervisor of the Medicare Department in Peru, Indiana retiring in 1982. Frances was an avid Pacers and Colts fan, and enjoyed dancing prior to Herbie's passing. Graveside services and burial: 2 p.m. EST Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Miller Cemetery in Lodi, Indiana; Officiating: Ken Majors; Visitation: one hour prior to services at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the Riley's Hospital for Children, 702 Barnhill Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
