Frances June Monkman, 78, of Danville, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 07, 2005 at her home with her loving daughters at her side. June was born on June 10, 1927 in Waynesville, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Luella (Nelson) Finn. She married Charles Monkman on in . He preceded her in death on July 4, 1990. She is survived by her one son- Thomas Arthur (Barb) Monkman of Dunedin, Florida; two daughters- Mary Dunning of Georgetown, Illinois and Patti (Larry) Welsch of Danville; four grandchildren- Jason Ramlow of Des Moines, Iowa, Ryan Welsch of Danville, Theresa Welsch of Danville, and James Monkman of Dunedin, Florida; one great-grandson- Austin Welsch of Danville; two special friends- Gail Costello of Danville and Sandy East of St. Joseph, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, three sisters, one infant sibling, and one granddaughter-Amber June Monkman. June graduated from Clinton High School in 1945. After graduating she attended St. Joseph Nursing College in Bloomington and graduated in 1948. June was a nurse for over 40 years. She worked at the V.A. Hospital for 25 years until retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. She loved being around her family and her grandchildren. She enjoyed being outside and being around nature. She also enjoyed spending time with her daughters shopping. A Mass of Christian Burial for Frances June Monkman will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2005 at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville, with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Junes name to the Donors Choice.
