Fran Bumpus

Covington, IN - Fran Bumpus, 71, of Covington passed away at 6:49 AM on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, IL. She was born on May 17, 1943 in Covington to James and Ruth (Shuff) Carwile. She married Larry Bumpus on December 14, 1962. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2012. She is survived by three children, Jay (Karen) Bumpus, Todd (Leslie) Bumpus, and Michelle (Justin) Fonner, all of Covington; seven grandchildren, Zane and Mattie Bumpus, Brandon and Morgan Bumpus, Evie and Austin Land, and Emma Fonner; sisters-in-law, Sharon Clancy and Judy Carwile; two special friends, Anita Fairchild and Dottie Martin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bob and Jim Carwile; and a grandson, Zachary Paul Bumpus. Fran was a devoted mother who loved to spend time with her family and grandkids. Aside from her own family, she ran her day care for over thirty years and touched her community through the lives of the children she raised. In her spare time Fran enjoyed stopping by garage sales and cooking. Frans family would like to give a special thanks to all of her friends for their support over the years through her fight with cancer. A service to celebrate the life of Fran Bumpus will be held at 11 AM EST on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Sunsets Covington Chapel. Pastors Bud Stidham and Kenneth Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM EST on Monday, January 5, also at Sunset in Covington. Memorials may be made to the Presence Cancer Center.
