An outstanding volunteer for the Danville Public Library who helped establish the Library Foundation, Frada Green passed away on December 21, 2015, in Panama City, FL. Graveside rites will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29 at Spring Hill Cemetery, 301 E. Voorhees in Danville, IL. Born in Akron, Ohio, on February 16, 1934, Frada grew up in Washington, DC and attended school there. She earned a Bachelor's degree in political science from American University and later earned a Master's in Education from the University of Illinois. Frada worked for the federal government from 1957 until 1987. She moved to Urbana in 1970 and worked at Chanute Air Field until her retirement. Frada married Walter Green in 1984 in Danville, IL. They were happily married for 20 years. They traveled extensively, enjoying many elder hostel programs. Frada worked nearly fulltime for the Danville Public Library as a volunteer, especially in helping establish the Library Foundation. She was later honored by the Foundation for her work. She taught English as a Second Language to many in the Danville community, and volunteered at the Lynn Haven Public Library in Lynn Haven, FL. She was an active and vital member of Congregation Israel in Danville. Frada was preceded in death by her husband Walter and her son Stephen Deutsch. She is survived by her son from her first marriage Lawrence (Davenie) Deutsch of Lynn Haven, FL, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Wilson of Edmond, OK, her brother William (Frances) Strauss of Urbana, IL, her grandchildren Rachel, Adam and Michael Deutsch, and step-son Gary Green. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Danville Public Library, 319 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61832, the Lynn Haven Library (901 Ohio Avenue, Lynn Haven, FL 32444) or the Danville Symphony Orchestra (715 W. Fairchild St., Danville, IL 61832).
