Forrest Gurley

Covington- Forrest Gurley, 83, passed away on July 18, 2015 at The Waters of Covington Nursing Home. He was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1931 in Crawford County, IL, the son of Ernest and Beulah (Nidey) Gurley. He married Barbara Rogers on June 1, 1952 in Covington, IN and she still survives. Forrest will be deeply missed by his wife, children; Debby J. Gurley and Cindy J. (Gene) Wynn, grandchildren; Amy (Brad) Budreau and Scott Wynn, great-grandchildren; Ella Grace, Beau and Zane Budreau, sisters; Carolyn Poorman, Linda (Emmitt) Rains and Martha Jane Weck. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brothers; Robert and Merlon Gurley and brothers; Roger and Morris Lee Gurley. Forrest was a graduate of Hutsonville High School. He served in the United States Navy and then began working for Harrison Steel as an electrician. He retired from Harrison Steel after 37 years of service. He was a member of Covington First Church of Christ. He loved woodworking, antiques, golfing, his family and watching all Covington sporting events. A celebration of Forrest's life will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM EST at Covington First Church of Christ with Pastor Eddy Jones officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM EST at Sunset's Covington Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington. Memorials can be made in Forrest's name to Covington First Church of Christ or the Western Indiana Community Foundation.
