Floyd L. Wear

Floyd L. Wear, 92, of Tilton, IL passed away at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL at 10:12 AM on February 2, 2026 with his family by his side.

Floyd was born on June 19, 1933 the son of William B. and Susie (High) Wear, Sr in Westville, IL. He married Mary M. Neal on January 2, 1953 in Danville, IL and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2020

Survivors include his children, Terry (Kathy) Wear of Crawfordsville, IN and Steven (Paula) Wear of Covington, IN, his siblings, Ben (Silvia) Wear of Westville, IL and Doris Vanvekoven of Catlin, IL as well as four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Wear, infant son, Timothy Michael, his brother, William “Bill” Wear and half-brothers, Fred and Roy Norenberg.

Floyd was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church and served on mission trips in his younger years. He served his country in the United States Army and retired from Danville Metal Stamping. Floyd enjoyed spending his free time fishing, golfing, working on jigsaw puzzles, woodworking, taking care of his yard and working on a variety of creative craft projects. Floyd was known for using things found in nature to make items from what God had created for us.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Pastor Dan Kitinoja and Pastor Joe Humrichous will co-officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 1-2:00 PM on Monday, February 9, 2026 at the funeral home.
