Danville- Floyd E. McKinley, 95, of Danville passed away at 9:10 PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at North Logan Healthcare Center in Danville. He was born on September 18, 1916 in Danville to Andrew J. and Nora Ingalsbe McKinley. He married his wife of 64 years, Thelma L. Mertz, on March 12, 1947. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Ruth Land; two sisters, Goldie and June McKinley; two grandchildren, Sarah (Jeromy) Taylor and Julie Zabelka; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Borden, Austin Taylor, Brandon Taylor, and Nathaniel Zabelka; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Florence, grandchildren Edwin and Lee Ann, brothers Everett, Roy, and Richard, sisters Clara and Marie, and a son-in law, Roy Land. Floyd was a welder and maintenance worker and had worked at Kraft Foods until his retirement. He often spent time after work doing repair and mechanic work for friends and neighbors in his garage. Floyd was also a skilled electrical technician and enjoyed whittling and woodworking. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Provena Hospital, the staff at North Logan Health Care, and their neighbors for their support. A service to celebrate the life of Floyd McKinley will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Miles Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday, October 30, also at Sunset in Danville.
