Floyd Dean Deano Gillespie, 69, of Westville, Illinois passed away on August 3, 2010 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. Floyd was born June 27, 1941, in Loda, Indiana, son of Floyd J. and Vivian (Harper) Gillespie. He married Sharon Taylor and she survives along with his three sons; Troy (Eva) Gillespie, Kenny Gillespie and John Balch: two daughters; Michelle (Lorenzo) Smith and Kimberly (Jason) Root, six sisters; Cathryn Snider, Diana (Wes) Fuller, Barbara Miller, Linda (Red) Jennings, Karen (Bobby) Perkins, and Sharon (Roscoe) Mitchell; nine grandchildren; Jayden, Kelton, Sabastian, Connor, Xander, Shannon, Kayla, LaCanda, Tanner and Sophia; brother-in-law Larry (Marianna) Taylor; Sister-in-law Loretta (Jack) Harper and special friends Bill Bone and Bill Squires; many nieces and nephews, and several friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Eoyvonne and Nilajean; brothers Sherrill and Cleon, and in laws James and Frances Taylor. Floyd attended Westville Schools and had worked for Grab-It-Here, welded at Berkley-Davis until retiring in 91, owned and operated Floyds Motor Repair on Cleveland Street in Danville and later worked for his good friend Ken Gentrup at 818 Collectibles. He was a member of Home Garden Church and Central Park Church of Christ. Floyd enjoyed tinkering with small motors, collecting treasures, Schwinn Bicycles, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. A Celebration of Floyds Life will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, August 9, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
