Florence Lewis, 83, a vibrant spirit and beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on December 8, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, IN. Born on May 21, 1942, in Hamilton, Ohio, she lived a fulfilling life, never met a stranger, and known for her infectious energy and as the life of the party. Her family was her pride and joy who she loved fiercely. She was strong and independent long before that was socially acceptable for a woman. She worked hard for everything she had, including lots of clothes, purses, and shoes. She took immense pride in being able to “pay her own way.”
Florence dedicated many years to her career at General Motors before retiring. Her dedication to her work was only matched by her love for dancing and listening to music, activities that brought her tremendous joy and were an integral part of her life.
A cherished mother to her daughters, Florence leaves behind Toni Trent of Evansville, IN, Sherri (Randy) Roller of Seymour, IN, Nicki (Brad) McBride of Westville, IL, and Christine (Matt) Nesbitt of Spring Bay, IL. She was a proud grandmother to Robin Madden, Tyler (Ashley) Cavin, Dustin (Kallie) Roller, Danielle (Andrew) Kirk, Myrsaides (Stephen) Ayers, Mattilyn (Micah) LeMoine, Morgan (Dustin) Braun, and Mia Cavin. Furthermore, she was delighted by her great-grandchildren, Emma Cavin, Rowan Cavin, Allen Roller, Alex Roller, Hank Kirk, Wally Kirk, Audrey Ayers, Shaffer LeMoine, Vivian Braun, Evelyn Braun, Joel Alford, and Kenslee Facchino.
Florence was also survived by her loving companion of many years, Bert Bonotto, dear brother, Marshall (Connie) McQuinley, and her beloved dog, Dominick. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Vivian McQuinley, and her brother Larry Smith.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois. Visitation will be held on December 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Cremation will follow.
