Florence L. Witsman

Danville - Florence Witsman was born October 27, 1932 in Paris, Illinois to Everett and Louvary Petty; they preceded her in death. She passed from this world on March 11, 2018. She graduated from Paris High School in 1951 and Nursing School in 1954. She married Walter Gene Witsman on August 18, 1956. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2012. She is survived by two sons, Karl (Donna) and Dennis, both of Danville and one daughter, Peggy (Gary) Norman of Evansville, Indiana and four grandchildren, Laura Fahey of Indianapolis, Mariah Witsman of West Liberty, Iowa, and Mason Witsman of Rock Island, Illinois and Andrew Witsman of Oakwood. She also had a great-grandchild, Theodore Peter Dudley Witsman. She loved them all very much. Her sisters included Norma Sudduth of Paris, Viola Young of Chrisman, and Lola (Ron) Logan of Potage, Michigan. Lots of great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Her sister-in-law Eunice Petty of Oscoda, Micah and Sue Attkisson of Paris. Five brothers preceded her in death, Bob Petty, Jim Petty, Junior, Larry Wayne and Harold Eugene Attkisson, one sister. Thelma Barkley, and one brother in law Tom Barkley. She worked at Lake View Hospital from 1955 to 1971, at different times she helped at Olin in Covington, Indiana and Army Ammunition in Newport, Indiana. She worked at the VA Hospital from 1971 to her 1989 retirement. She loved owls and collected all different kinds of owl collectibles and books, she did Sudoku and Word Search puzzles. She loved her dog Kiya. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held at from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N. Vermilion Street Danville, IL. Per Florence's wishes, she has donated her body to science. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
