Florence M. McCrone Barton, of Ft. Wayne, IN. formally of Danville, IL. passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph Hospital in Ft. Wayne IN. on June 20th, 2020.
Flo was an extremely proud and loving mother, a true Matriarch. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia (Bill, deceased) Herndon, of Richardson, TX., formally Danville, IL, and son Roy (Kim) Barton of Ft. Wayne, IN., formally Danville, IL. Flo was the absolute best Grandmother and is survived by her loving Grandchildren Tom (Elizabeth) Harmon of Crystal Lake, IL., Karla (Jerry) Crowder of Richardson, TX., Shelly Barton of FT. Wayne, IN,. and Molly Delagrange of FT. Wayne, IN. Great Grandchildren, Arlo and Gabe Harmon of Crystal Lake, IL. Kendra Tovar of Wautauga, TX. Tyler (Lauren) Wigger of Lake in the Hills, IL., Karlee (Jake) Yerkes of Wonder Lake, IL., Virginia and Moriah Crowder of Richardson, TX., Cynthia and Olivia Nicholson of Ft. Wayne IN., and Sophia Barton of Ft. Wayne IN. Nine Great-Great Grandchildren, (one on the way), and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
Flo is preceded in death by her eight siblings, Charles (Myrt), Don (Lilas), Kenny (Alta), Margaret (Pete Holman) Armstrong (Red), Ruth (Neale) Emmons, Dick (Kate), Larry (Naomi, surviving sister-in-law), and Pat (Tom) Bergan. She was also preceded by an infant son, Robert Eastman in Jan.,1940. Also, her son-in-law Bill Herndon, April 2006.
Flo was born Dec. 25th, 1917. The daughter of Charles and Phyllis (Linck) McCrone. She married Woodrow Eastman Sept. 30th, 1936, and he preceded her in death Aug. 12th, 1948. On March 21st, 1949 she married Vernal Barton. He preceded her in death Jan. 22nd, 1990. Flo was a very loving, and generous, woman to all of her family and friends. To know Flo was to love her immensely. She enjoyed playing Euchre, doing word search puzzles, and cooking for her family... especially her legendary Holiday dinners that were sure to include famous apple and chocolate pies! Flo was an exceptionally hard worker at GE, Goldblatts, and St. Elizabeth Hospital among other places. She was born in Danville, lived in Pekin & Peoria, IL., too. However, she spent the bulk of her one hundred and two years in Danville. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
To honor Flos wishes, there will be a cremation and private family memorial. She will join her beloved Husband Vernal at Sunset Memorial in Danville, IL. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 have been entrusted with arrangements.
