Perrysville, Ind. - Fern Elizabeth Holycross, 91, formerly of Perrysville and a resident of The Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana for the past ten years, passed away at 4:20 p.m. EST Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at The Waters of Covington. She was born September 22, 1922 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of the late John and Laura Wilcox Gilmore. She married Earl R. Holycross on January 29, 1949 in Danville, Illinois. He survives. Other survivors include her children, Debbie(Joe)Davan of Covington, Indiana; Darlene Holycross of Perrysville, Indiana; Diana(Fred)Kurz of Tampa, Florida; Denny(Kim)Holycross of Sullivan, Indiana and Scott Holycross of Perrysville, Indiana; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Fern was preceded in death by four sisters. Fern was a beautician in the Danville area for several years. She was a 1940 graduate of Lawrenceville High School. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines in Danville. She enjoyed making ceramics, sewing and singing in the church choir at Union Corner. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church west of Covington, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Brenda Burnsworth; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana; Visitation: 1 p.m. EST Sunday, November 17, 2013 until time of services at the church.
