Fannie Mae Abney, 83, of Danville, passed away on May 20, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on June 20, 1932 in Charleston, IL, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Lewis) Adams and her other parents, George and Tressa Baker. She married Doyle Abney on October 3, 1954 in Charleston, IL and he preceded her in death in 2011. Fannie Mae will be deeply missed by her daughters; Sara Brown of Danville and Gina Balsamello of Westville, brother, Gordon (Phyllis) Adams of Tuscola, IL, sisters; Mary Burress of Kalamazoo, MI, Delora (Bob) Woodfall of Charleston, IL, and Lois Reeves of Tuscola, IL, grandchildren; Caleb (Ginger) Brown, Brooke (Elisha) Stanford and Vincent Balsamello, great grandchildren; Kaj, Amani, Micah Stanford and Cash and Gianna Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, other parents, husband, one brother- Woodrow Adams and sister, Nancy Fritz. Fannie was a 1954 graduate of Lakeview School of Nursing. She started her nursing career after graduation, working under Dr. L.W. Tanner for 36 years before retiring in 1985. She loved her nursing career and all the people she met. Her family was everything to her. In her later years she enjoyed attending all her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting and school events. A celebration of Fannie's life will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834 with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
