Everett William Lucas

Everett William(Bill) Lucas ,79, a loving husband, father, friend and warrior for God died at home on March 13, 2014 at 4:00am with his family at his side. Born and raised in Metcalf, IL, Bill, as he was known to everyone, embodied the morals and values we see so often in the men of his generation. A calm, good and strong man, Bill touched many lives. Bill graduated from Young America High School in 1952. He was drafted into the Army in 1956 and left the Metcalf farm. That same year he married Ramona Lucille Johnson on September 16th and they set off for the Army with $83.00 to begin their life together. He served his term in the Army as an MP and was discharged to begin his civilian working life in South Bend, IN in 1958. He worked with Koontz-Wagner Electric where he became a recognized electrical Engineer in his industry. In 1968, they moved closer to home to Danville, IL to raise their two boys Scott and Brian with the same values on which they were raised. He was a long time member and Elder of North Land Christian Church, President and actor with the Danville Light Opera, a member of the American Businessmens Club, worked for Berkly Davis, and was a life member of the Masonic Blue Lodge of Catlin where he became a 32nd degree Mason. After leaving Berkly Davis, Bill and family moved to Chattanooga, TN in 1983 to begin another career with TJ Snow. For 30 years they lived, worked and made wonderful friends in Chattanooga. He was a member, teacher and Elder of Hickory Valley Christian Church and an active member of the directors staff in the Chattanooga - Shrine Lodge. Bill and Ramona returned home to settle in Covington, IN in 2012. Bill Lucas is survived by his Wife, Ramona Lucas of 58 years; son Brian Lucas; four beautiful grandchildren, Jordan, Scott, Brittany and Brianne; one great grandchild, Eli, and one sister Ruby Neil. A celebration of Bills life will be held at 12:00pm Monday, March 17, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville, IL. With Raymie Gordan officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday March 16, 2014 from 2:00-6:00pm at the funeral home, also one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Danville National Cemetery following the service.
