Everett V. Carlson, 85, passed away at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Champaign, IL on April 4, 2017. He was born May 14, 1931 in Ludlow, IL to Axel and Esther (Nelson) Benson. He married JoAnn Wrisk on June 29, 1955 in Covington, IN, she survives. He is survived by his wife, children; Ronnie Turner of Danville, IL, Elody (Roger) Kiser of Council Bluffs, IA, Kevin Carlson of Westville, Kathy (David) Johnson of Paris, IL, Billy Carlson of Danville, IL, Scott (Jill) Carlson of Plattsmouth, NE, Tony (Rosemary) Carlson of St. Charles, MO; siblings, Floyd (Donna) Benson of Danville, IL, Shirley Self of Rantoul and special friends, Ray, Jackie, Roy and Verna; grandchildren, Lindsay, Allison, Andy, Angie, Ashley, Britney, Randi, Katelynn, Haley, Jenna, Nick, Jean, Jac, Brandon, Justin, Lauren, Rachael; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hayden, Drew, Faith, AJ, Kami, Gabriella, Lincoln, Harrison, Liam and Annabelle. Also, they family would like to thank Debi for all her loving care for Everett. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Johnny Vic Carlson, siblings; Irene, Lorene, Helen and one grandchild, Kodi Ryan Johnson. Everett served in the United States Army as a telephone lineman and a cook, stationed in Alaska from 1953-1954. Early in life his friends called him "Windy" and he never met a stranger. Everett was a hard-working community man that owned Carlson Tree Service for over 60 years. He was so proud to offer the community a service and pass that along to his son Billy. Everett was also a very proud father and strong family man that loved all of his family dearly. He raced late model stock cars, loved fishing, hunting, gardening and was always joking and telling stories. He was a member of the Westville American Legion Post #51 and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church. He also had a love for his dogs "Suzie" and "Taz" that were his best friends. A celebration of Everett's life will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Joe Humrichous officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 4-7PM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Danville.
