Everett E. Powell Sr. of Georgetown passed away on August 31, 2015. He was born August 11, 1940 in Danville, Ill. to Everett F. Sr. and Roberta (Martin) Powell. Everett retired from General Motors in 1990 after 25 years of employment. He also worked for Mike Sells, Acosta Sales and Marketing, and was a member of the United Auto Workers. Everett was comical, he had a great sense of humor, loved to tell jokes and could really pull off some great pranks. He rescued pugs and leaves behind his pals, Mr. Pugs, Roscoe P. Coltrain and Kotter. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He is survived by his dear children, Tamara (Frank) Dudley of Georgetown, Everett E. Powell Jr. of Danville, Jo Beth (Greg) Smith of Stanford and Randall S. Powell of Springfield; his 10 cherished grandchildren; by his 18 great grandchildren; and by his sister Debra Palomo Dukes of Danville; an adopted daughter, Treasy (Bill) Ice of Danville; and by many nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Sally Ann Englert, with whom he was united in marriage May 13, 1958; a daughter, Jody Lynn Powell; his parents; his sisters, Dolores Pine, Edith Aquino, Margaret Slater; a brother, Orville Leon Powell; great granddaughter, Angel Murdock; and his great grandsons, Keagan Riley and Kolten Gnaden. Everett's family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Gardenview Manor for their wonderful care! A visitation will be held Saturday, September 5, from 10 - 11 am at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel 414 S.
