Everett C. Cade Jr., 89, a life resident of Danville, IL, passed away at 4:45pm, on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Hawthorne Inn located in Danville. Mr. Cade was born in Danville on June 25, 1919, the son of Everett C. Sr. and Martha (Krauel) Cade. On June 16, 1946, Everett married Ms. Helen M. Zeppelin in Danville. She survives along with their niece, Mrs. Lourie (James) Dey of Champaign, IL., their nephew, Mr. Greg (Cheryl) Lyons of Washington, IL, and their two great-nieces, Ms. Alison Dey of Champaign, and Mrs. Kelly (Joshua) Sedbrook of California. His parents and an infant brother precede Everett in death. Everett was a graduate from Danville High School and Utterback Business College of Danville. He was a veteran of WW II, having spent four years in the Air Corps as a Technical Sergeant. He was employed by General Electric Co. / Valmont Electric for forty-six years, holding various management positions, one being a Project Manager of Manufacturing for the Danville and Juarez, Mexico plants at the time of his retirement. Everett was well known as a baseball and softball player, playing for years with the V.F.W. Twilight League of Danville, Westville, and General Electric Co. He would also play softball for the National Fast Pitch League of Danville, with General Electric, Hills Packers, and Sam White. He was a former member of the Illinois High School Athletic Association and a Basketball Official. He was a baseball scout for the Cleveland Indians Organization for a number of years, as well as a director and secretary-treasurer of the Danville Warriors Baseball Club when they were affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Class A Midwest League. Everett had been active in politics, having been a Republican Committeeman for fourteen years, Chairman of County Board District 9, and Secretary of the Vermilion County Central Republican Committee, as well as a former Junior Achievement Advisor and participated as Captain in the United Way Fund Drives. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Danville, the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #38, Danville Scottish Rite, Danville Chapter of the Eastern Star, General Electric Quarter Century Club, and the General Electric Elfun Society. He was past member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Eastern Illinois Traffic Club, and the Delta-Nu-Alpha Transportation Fraternity. His hobbies where sports, auto racing, and the study of Civil War Generals and their Battles.
