Evelyn A. Kienast, 93, of Danville, passed away on January 2, 2014 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on September 20, 1920 in Rardin, IL, the daughter of Charles and Lenora (Hartman) Crispin. She married Walter “Norman” Kienast on August 11, 1944 in Danville and spent 51 wonderful years together before his passing on August 14, 1995. She will be deeply missed by one son, David and (Cheryl) Kienast of Danville, one daughter, Marty (Darrell) Carlson of Champaign, one sister, Anna Mae Harper of Danville, seven grandchildren, Todd, Ben, Andy and Jake Carlson, Chris, Greg and Katie Kienast, three great grandchildren, Lyndley, Atley and Tyler Carlson. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Charles Crispin and one sister, Marjorie Dutton. She graduated from Lakeview School of Nursing and went on to post graduate school at Presbyterian St. Lukes before returning to Lakeview Hospital as a nurse. She spent many years there as an operating supervisor and over 40 years combined until retiring in 1985. In 2000 she decided she wanted to go back to work and started at County Market in the coffee bar. She worked there until 2008. Evelyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was also a member of their Eunice Society. She was also a board member and alumni member for Lakeview School of Nursing. A visitation for Evelyn will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 North Vermilion Street Danville, IL 61834. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church 824 East Main Street Danville, IL 61832 with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. A visitation will also be held from 9:00-10:00 AM prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Danville. Memorials can be made in Evelyns name to the Trinity Lutheran Eunice Society.
