Evelyn J. Whitaker

Perrysville, Ind. - Evelyn J. Whitaker, 79, of Perrysville, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Monday morning, March 3, 2014 at her residence. She was born September 11, 1934 in Fountain County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Joe and Gladys Wilkinson Beckelhymer. Evelyn married James A. Whitaker on April 24, 1953 in Kingman, Indiana. He survives. Other survivors include her son, Jeffery A.(Darlene)Whitaker, Sr. of Perrysville, Indiana; two grandsons, Jeff(Jessie)Whitaker, Jr. of Covington, Indiana and Justin(Amber)Whitaker of Perrysville, Indiana; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Rosemary Drollinger and Shirley(John)Coffing both of Kingman, Indiana; Gladys(Bill)Marshall of Covington, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her step mother, Beulah Shookman Beckelhymer; one sister, Annabelle Everett; four brothers, James; Keith; Junior and Max Beckelhymer and three step brothers. Evelyn formerly worked at Provena United Samaritians Medical Center as a receptionist. Prior to that, she worked at Illinois Bell, retiring in 1983. Evelyn was a 1952 graduate of Kingman High School. She was a member of the West Liberty Church of Christ south of Covington, Indiana. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EST Friday, March 7, 2014 at the West Liberty Church of Christ on State Road 32 east of Perrysville, Indiana; Officiating: Kevin Wildman; Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the West Liberty Church of Christ and one hour prior to services on Friday.
