Evelyn Iola Snapp, 96, of Ridge Farm, departed this earth on February 13, 2010, while at her home. She was born on October 30th, 1913, in Danville, IL. She was adopted by Mary and Albert Meeker and enjoyed the love and devotion of her parents. She married Harold Brandt on November 10, 1934, until his passing. On November 27, 1959, she was wed to William Leo Snapp until he passed on November 15, 1995. Evelyn in survived by: her son, Harold Brandt Jr of Ridge Farm & Morris Eugene Brandt of Danville; her step-daughter, Tonia Gurnea of Colorado; her step-son, Larry Snapp of Illinois; her grandchildren, Curt (Melinda) Gurnea of New Lenox, IL, Nate (Patsy) Gurnea of Orland Park, IL, Tim (Apis) Gurnea of Crete, IL & Janeen L. Gurnea of Colorado; her great grandchildren, Barbara Quick of Danville, Holly Quick of Danville; Caitlyn M. Gurnea of New Lenox, IL, & Derek L. Gurnea of New Lenox, IL; her three great-great grandchildren; and many extended family. She was preceded in death by; her loving adoptive parents; her daughter, Donna Smith; her son-in-law, Gene Smith; her grandchildren, Rusty Smith & Mike Brandt; her sister, Thelma Greazer; and her brother, Walter Meeker. Evelyn was a Danville High School graduate of 1932 and worked seasonal jobs at R & S. Printing Co., Millikin Dry Cleaners, Ghastoffs, as well as secretarial work for Asphalt Corp of America. Also worked 23 years for G.E. and then retired. She also worked for Veterans Administration. Evelyn enjoyed playing, piano, fishing, and tending her flowers. She took first place in State Senior Bowling at Ridgeway Lanes of Ridge Farm. She and her husband were the first couple to win the Illinois State title and represent Illinois in the National finals. She really enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. A celebration of Evelyns life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown with Pastor Scott McCurdy will officiate. Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm, Friday, February 19, 2010, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery.
